The goal of this project was to solve a number of problems with the old Old International Trucks website. These included:
- Difficult checkout process with a confusing Paypal integration.
- Products did not have their own unique individual pages which made it nearly impossible for Google to understand what products were available and it was hard for people to share products as well, since copy and pasting a link to a page didn’t work.
- The website was difficult to update and required making updates in multiple places every time a product needed to be updated.
- And more… but these are some of the more urgent issues.
After identifying these issues, we rebuilt the website and focused on making the customer experience much smoother while also putting in place a better SEO (Search Engine Optimization) strategy so that people looking for these hard-to-find truck parts could more easily find them.
We also worked hard to ensure that the history of International Trucks that had been curated over the years would be preserved and set up in a way that was easier to explore and easier for staff to manage. It had become tedious with the old website to keep these sections of the site updated and they were often neglected as a result.
Overall this project was very successful and we are still building features into it (a feature that allows you to enter your truck model and year and see a list of matching parts is just around the corner!).
